Project description:
The Postdoc/Technician will develop a multiomics workflow for functional microbiome analysis with a focus on metabolic profiling including proteomics, metabolomics and lipidomics from the same sample. Christine Moissl-Eichinger (WP 1.1) will provide stool samples from patients with different gut microbiomes, especially with and without archaea and with and without intestinal disease (e.g. inflammatory bowel disease), where transcriptomic and NMR metabolomic data is already available for method development. The meta-transcriptomic data will serve as database for meta-proteomics and our MS metabolomics and lipidomics analyses will be highly complementary to the NMR metabolomics data. Several other WPs have expressed interest in such a meta-multi-omics workflow for functional microbiome analysis which will need to be adapted and optimized for different sample types (e.g. stool, environmental samples, cultures).
