WWTF Life Sciences Grant to CoE Key Researcher David Berry

CoE Key Researcher David Berry receives funding from the WWTF (Vienna Science and Technology Fund) for his project ‘Engineering enhanced microbiome function using synthetic ecology’.

We are pleased to announce that David Berry has been awarded a WWTF Life Sciences 2024 grant for his project “Engineering enhanced microbiome function using synthetic ecology”. This project aims to engineer personalized microbial consortia to improve gut health by optimizing the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs).

Co-Principal Investigator Stefanie Widder from the Medical University of Vienna will contribute her expertise to this interdisciplinary effort. The project promises to pave the way for novel approaches to microbiome engineering with transformative implications for health and disease management.
