Communication & Technology Transfer in the CoE

The CoE will allow us to establish a professional program of communication and transfer that will bring microbiome research to a new level of societal and economic impact in Austria and beyond.

Our collaborative communication and transfer program is designed to ensure that the researchers and research activities supported by the CoE have a lasting impact in three main areas: knowledge transfer, societal transfer, and technology transfer.

• • Knowledge transfer activities will bring the field of microbiome research, including the new knowledge generated by the CoE, to target groups outside of academia.
• • Societal transfer aims to ensure that scientific microbiome knowledge provides the basis for solving manifold societal challenges where microorganisms drive human and environmental health..
• • Technology transfer activities will strengthen the flow of ideas, innovations, and technologies from the CoE to economic contexts.

We envisage the CoE becoming the recognized knowledge hub in microbiome research and planetary health in Austria and internationally, visible to academia, policy, healthcare, the media, the public, and industry to support evidence-based decision-making.

We aim to spark enthusiasm for science and foster public interest in scientific discovery and scholarship through the active participation of citizens in the research process (e.g., citizen science). This way, we will promote scientific literacy, which is the foundation for trust in science, currently an issue of great importance in our society.
